WORKSHOP

26 January 2022 “Resume Writing” -  The 3rd day of the Career Preparation Workshop series carried on with a session by Mohd Hafiz Muslim, Manager of Graduate Resourcing of Maybank, with his topic “Resume Writing”. I was an E-PHOTOGRAPHER. A seasoned Assistant Vice President of Talent Acquisition with over 15 years of working experience in Maybank, Mohd Hafiz shared students with tips and tricks on building a quality resume. In addition, Mohd Hafiz highlighted the importance of career aspirations, skills, and working experiences that recruiters often look at instead of academic grades as Maybank prioritize skills and experiences as the top aspect when recruiting people. Skills such as coding, data analysis, or any tech-related skills are preferable and are extremely high demanded especially in the banking industry. On top of that, Mr. Hafiz advised students to be aware of the usage of wordings especially to avoid any grammar errors, and be articulate rather than ‘flowery’ when crafting their resume. Coming to the end of the session, the final key takeaway by Mr. Hafiz was “To tackle recruiter’s attention, 100% of effort have to be committed by every applicant to build a high-quality resume as recruiters normally only take 6 seconds to view the resume before shortlisting any candidates for the job interview.

SEPTEMBER 14, 2021 “Get LIT on Linkedin” - The Career Preparation Workshop series began with a session conducted by Sunita Kaur Kirpal, Head of Young Talent, and Amir Sharifuddin, Young Talent Specialist at Maxis Malaysia. Iin this event I was an Emcee.  In this session, they discussed the importance of Linkedin towards networking and personal branding. They believed that content updates in Linkedin will enable students to reflect on their self-progression and develop positive impressions better from their career networkers. “Always keep track of your achievements. Think about it as Instagram but with a more professional background in Linkedin.” Amir said. Besides, they discussed the power of sharing that will help to inspire others through the students’ experiences. “It is always good to share your career experiences in your post contents. You may never know whom you inspire through your posts. ” Amir suggested. Furthermore, in terms of job search, Sunita advised students to always retain an open mindset towards their career opportunities. “When you get a ‘no’, it doesn't mean it is a ‘no’. Instead, it's giving you a new opportunity. As the old saying goes, ‘one door closes, another door opens.’ Success will find you if you seek it.” Sunita quoted. Overall, the workshop was awe-inspiring and engaging with the students able to obtain the knowledge in building their Linkedin profiles. “I truly learn a lot in building my Linkedin profile now.
